Thank You, Dear Readers!

First of all, I was shocked and pleased that Close Liaisons spent the second day of the Kindle Select Promotion in the Top 100 Free Kindle Books. Thank you, everyone, for making this happen! I was especially surprised to see over 100 downloads in Germany and a few in Italy, France, Spain, and Japan. UK had a fairly high number as well, but that’s more understandable :).

I’m also incredibly excited that Close Liaisons made it onto the Hot New Releases List in Romance -> Fantasy, Futuristic & Ghost, in the overall category of Science Fiction, and in Erotica!

Volume 2 of the Krinar Chronicles Update: Title Chosen :)

My husband and I have a habit of taking long walks to discuss the book. On those walks, we generally come up with the plot, debate finer points of how the Krinar society should be structured (he’s all for them being more peaceful while I prefer a bit more aggression), and talk about other book-related topics. It was during one of these walks in the summer that we had come up with the title for Close Liaisons and decided on the design of the cover. 


Well, our walk yesterday was similarly productive. The title of the next book in the Krinar Chronicles series will be . . . Close Obsession.  No cover design yet – that will probably be our next walk. Although if Hurricane Sandy has its way, we may be indoors for quite a while . . . 

Kindle Select decision reached

After much agonizing, researching, and reading the fine print on the Kindle Direct Publishing contract, I decided to go with the Kindle Select Program. As a brand- new author, I find the ability to leverage the marketing power and algorithms of Amazon to be just too tempting. Plus, as some people pointed out, the exclusivity lasts for only 90 days and then I can choose to re-evaluate that decision. In the meantime, not having to deal with a bunch of different platforms frees me up to do what I truly love: writing.  

The next book in the Krinar Chronicles is now in the works . . .  

To do Kindle Select or not do Kindle Select . . . that’s the question that will prevent me from sleeping tonight :)

So I have learned tonight just how powerful of a marketing tool the Kindle Select Program can be. Apparently, it can take a book from obscurity to the top of Amazon Bestseller Lists (at least based on anecdotal evidence). 

I’m torn. On the one hand, I’d like to make my book available to as many readers as possible on as many platforms as possible. But on the other hand, I’d love to accelerate the process of getting discovered, to have readers give my book a chance – even if they get it as part of their Amazon Prime Membership.

So . . . should I do it? Should I go steady with Amazon for three months and hope for the best? Or should I keep my options open and publish my ebook with B&N, Apple, etc?

Ah, decisions, decisions. I don’t think I’ve slept normally through the night since the book got close to the publishing stage :).    

I have a new addiction…

I have recently discovered Goodreads and I simply cannot stay away from the site. I have NEVER come across so many people who love to read as much as I do – and the same kind of books that I do. Where were you all during my teenage years???
